Editorial Policy

Editorial Policy

askmyfinance.com exists to help people make better financial decisions. Our editorial process is built around three principles: accuracy, independence, and transparency.

How We Research

Every article is based on primary sources. We do not publish rate or product information without verifying it against:

  • Official lender websites and published rate sheets
  • Federal Reserve data (federalreserve.gov)
  • Consumer Financial Protection Bureau publications (consumerfinance.gov)
  • State-level regulatory filings where applicable

We do not republish figures from other editorial sites without independent verification.

Rate information is time-sensitive. All articles display a “last updated” date. When rates change materially, we update the article. If a product we have recommended is discontinued or substantially changed, we note it.

How We Make Money

askmyfinance.com earns revenue through affiliate partnerships. When you apply for a financial product through a link on this site and are approved, we may receive a commission from the lender or card issuer.

We disclose affiliate relationships at the top of every article that contains affiliate links.

Affiliate revenue does not influence our editorial recommendations. Products are evaluated on their merits: rates, fees, approval requirements, and fit for the audience described in each article. We will recommend a product with no affiliate relationship if it is the best option for the reader. We will not recommend a product solely because it pays a higher commission.

Who Writes and Reviews Our Content

All articles on askmyfinance.com are written and reviewed by Chris Shupe, founder of askmyfinance.com. Chris is a marketing professional with over seven years of experience building and growing businesses, with brand experience including DoorDash, Ruby Tuesday, and European Wax Center.

We do not publish AI-generated content without human review and editing. Every article reflects the judgment of a named human expert.

Corrections

If you find an error — factual, numerical, or otherwise — please contact us at chris@dominatethemarketplace.net with the article URL and the specific issue. We review correction requests within 5 business days. Verified errors are corrected and the article’s update date is revised.

Independence Statement

askmyfinance.com is editorially independent. Advertisers and affiliate partners do not review, approve, or influence our editorial content before or after publication. Our recommendations reflect our honest assessment of financial products based on publicly available information and our own research.
